DUSK — macOS

Dark mode that switches on time.

macOS can switch appearance automatically. Plenty of people have found that it doesn't, reliably — flipping at odd hours, staying dark through the morning, changing in the middle of the afternoon.

Dusk does that one job properly. Real sunset and sunrise where you actually are, or hours you set yourself. One icon in the menu bar, and nothing else to manage.

WPT 02 — WHAT IT DOES
01

Switches when it says it will

Sunset and sunrise are recalculated on your Mac every day, and the menu shows exactly when the next switch happens. No guessing.

02

Your hours, not just the sun's

Sunset is not always what you want. Set fixed times instead — light at 08:00, dark at 20:00, or whatever matches how you actually work.

03

One click, or one shortcut

Light, Dark or Automatic from the menu bar, and ⌃⌥⌘D to flip instantly from anywhere. No trip to System Settings.

Dusk's Schedule window with 'Fixed times' selected, light at 08:00 and dark at 20:00, and the option to take sunset times from the time zone with no permission needed.
Sunset and sunrise, or hours you set yourself. Neither needs a location permission.
WPT 03 — WHAT IT DOESN'T DO

No account

Nothing to sign up for. Nothing to sign in to. Buy it, open it, done.

No analytics

No telemetry, no advertising frameworks, no third-party SDKs. We don't know you installed it.

No network access

Dusk contains no networking code at all. It has no technical way to send anything anywhere, which is a stronger promise than a policy.

Menu bar utilities have been bought and quietly turned into something else before. Dusk is sandboxed, App Store reviewed, and built so that it couldn't phone home even if someone wanted it to. Read the privacy policy — it's short.
